This 50-hour course is designed to train the student in the skills required for certification in Structural Collapse Level 1. Skills for this program of instruction are drawn out of the job performance requirements found in Chapter 9 of NFPA 1006 2008 Ed., the NFPA Standard for Technical Rescuer Professional Qualifications. Students will receive instruction on the fundamentals of structural collapse rescue in both classroom and practical settings, including scenario-based instruction.

Certification
Students that successfully complete the program of instruction and pass a written and hands-on skills evaluation will receive national certification through The National Board on Fire Service Professional Qualifications (The Pro Board).
Prerequisite Requirements
All students must meet the requirements of NFPA 1006 2008 Ed. Chapter 5.
Textbooks
Textbooks required for class will be checked out to the student the first day of class and will be returned prior to receiving their certificate. Textbooks can be purchased with advanced notice.
Required Equipment
Students are required to provide and bring to class each day the following:
- Helmet meeting ANSI rating
- Gloves
- Eye protection meeting ANSI rating
- Steel toed safety shoe meeting ANSI rating
All classes will be held regardless of weather conditions, foul weather gear is the responsibility of the student.
