This course is designed to provide the student the skills and knowledge necessary to obtain certification as a Fire Inspector 1. The Fire Inspector I course satisfies the requirements of the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) 1031, Chapter 4 and provides the tools necessary to obtain certification through the National Board on Fire Service Professional Qualifications (Pro Board).
It is designed around classroom lectures and group interactive exercises to improve your abilities to act as a fire inspector. This includes responsibilities such as preparing reports, field inspections, and basic occupancy classification.

Students that successfully complete the program of instruction and pass a written and hands-on skills evaluation will receive national certification through The National Board on Fire Service Professional Qualifications (The Pro Board).
Prerequisites required for certification
- NFPA 472 – Hazardous Materials Awareness
Textbooks required for class will be checked out to the student the first day of class and will be returned prior to receiving their certificate. Textbooks can be purchased with advanced notice.
For this course, duty uniform or business casual dress is required.

The Wisconsin Technical College System is the traditional certifying body for Wisconsin civilian fire service members. Prior to enrolling in this course, please check your local technical college for course availability. If your local technical college can’t accommodate your needs, then feel free to sign up with us.
