Members of the WI-CERFP participating in Hazardous Materials Operations Training at the REACT Center took their practical exam today. The hazardous materials training received by CERFP members goes beyond the Operations-level Core and includes mission-specific competencies needed to locate and extract victims from a contaminated environment, perform medical triage/treatment, and conduct patient/casualty decontamination.
The REACT Center conducted a Hazardous Materials Operations Course for the WI-CERFP on March 1-4, 2018. CERFPs respond to chemical, biological, radiological, nuclear, or high yield explosive (CBRNE) incidents to support local, state, and federal agencies in conducting consequence management by providing capabilities to conduct patient decontamination, emergency medical services, and casualty search and extraction.
Participants in the Rope Rescue I Course (Class 18-011) held at the REACT Center on March 5-9, 2018. This 40 hour course is designed to train the student in the skills required for certification in Rope Rescue Level 1. Skills for this program of instruction are drawn out of the job performance requirements found in Chapters 5 and 6 of NFPA 1006 2013 Ed., the NFPA Standard for Technical Rescuer Professional Qualifications. Students will receive instruction on the fundamentals of high and low angle rescues in both classroom and practical settings, including scenario-based instruction.
Participants in the Confined Space Rescue Course (Class 18-007) held at the REACT Center on February 20-23, 2018. This 40 hour course is designed to train the student in the skills required for certification in Confined Space Rescue. Skills for this program of instruction are drawn out of the job performance requirements found in Chapter 7 of NFPA 1006 and meet the requirements of NFPA 1670.
